Btura the most accessable and forurth langers Karakuram glacies strecthes west from the KKH for 56 km. The treks exceptional scenery includes 14 peak's higher then 7000M and huge ice floes plummeting more then 4000M from the Batura wall to the glacier. Most of the trek is through out abliation valleys and along streems with almost no steep segnments it affords gradual acclimatistion and present no major difficulties. Even the treks two glacier crossing are relatively easy treaker also get a glimpse into the unique way of life Passu Vallegers, Who tend livestok in the summer pastures along the glacier's north margin.
The alrernative rout along the glaciers south margin and glacier crossing (see Alternative Days 4 -5 )presents a more shaded and cooler alternative to trekking along its sunny north margin on hot july and August Days. Treaker with less time are those disinlined to undertake any glacier crossing can simply trek along the south margin to Maidun and return by the same rout. This make a pleasent three to four days trek, But does not give any views of the Batura Wall or ie floes.
Wakhi people are generous and traditionally share food with visitors, but it's unrealistic to expect food from people in pasture settlements. The hearders huts private property and aren't available for trekers use. Respect the people and their property bring you own food and shelter.
